I Will Be A Millionaire Doing What I Love. You?

This isn’t about bragging. I’m not a millionaire yet.

This isn’t about bragging.

It is about having a process.

Feel free to borrow it.

When I was seven or eight, I wanted a bike. All my friends had them and often went out to ride them. I felt left out.

For months, my father kept saying, “I’ll get you one as soon as I can.”

One day, he told me, “I’ll get you one this Friday, and when you come Saturday (divorced parents, so I did weekend visits with daddy), it’ll be here”.

I told everybody. I was finally getting my bike. No more begging this person or that person to ride for a bit. No more asking my cousin if he’d lend me his.

Then, you guessed it, Saturday came and no bike. When I asked dad about it, he seemed so upset. This shaped me. There were many more similar moments in my childhood, but this one I remember most vividly.

It formulated my main money block: good people don’t want money. They don’t want bikes. They don’t care about material things. They don’t want to see dad upset. They don’t want to see mom digging in her purse for change.

Good people appreciate other things in life.

Success to me was to work with the best, to work what I love, to have freedom—things like that.

I never said I wanted money. I never thought about making more money. That would make me a not-good person.

Now I know that the lack of money created these situations in my childhood. The problem wasn’t me asking for the bike. The problem was my dad felt horrible about not being able to get me one.

So money is good. Not having money, that’s the issue.

Money is good, and I welcome it in my life. I know if I make more, I’ll inspire people around me to make more…
